Fishing Boats with Smoke Rising from Chimneys, Lined Up at River Bank.
*****
*****
Some of the fishing boats we photographed had wisps of smoke curling up from the chimneys of the cabins. These fishing boats were not for sport, but for earning a living, and many of the fishing boats seen during the tour had small living quarters for the fishermen. On one river cruise we saw fishing boats under construction on the river bank, and many fishing boats with the cormorants of the fishermen perched on the bows. Fish is a valued food commodity in most areas, more so away from the coastal region that benefits from the sea going fishing boats.
The men in the fishing boats on the rivers usually sell their catch in the local markets; only fresh fish will sell.

Fishing boats moored at both sides of a tree lined river bank was a scene prompting our coach driver to stop on the bridge he was crossing, so that his passengers could use their cameras! Fishing boats on rivers were frequently seen during our tour and some of the fishing boats had covered cabins, used as living quarters.
