Home Cooking Without Modern Appliances In Kitchen of Countryside Town.
***
***
Chi was busy doing some home cooking on our first visit, cooking steamed rice flour pancakes with savoury fillings. We tasted her home cooking there and then as she cooked pancakes for us, some filled with fresh egg. Her home cooking was well known in the town, with local people having breakfast in her kitchen before going to work.
We returned later in the day to enjoy some more of her home cooking. When we arrived, she was already preparing
a banquet and all of her home cooking was accomplished over an open wood fire. It was quite amazing to have so many different dishes brought to the supper table, all looking and tasting delicious. A fine example of home cooking at its best. There was a similar experience awaiting us at Nasam.

Home cooking over an open wood fire might be a daunting task for many people, but not for the experienced cook! Local people enjoyed home cooking in dishes of steamed pancakes for their breakfast, before going to work. The home cooking might be done by the lady of the house, but the washing up after the meal was the duty of the children!
