Breakfast Of Dumplings By Huai Hua Railway Station Before Start Of China Town Journey

The China town of Pai Lou can be reached by taxi from Huai Hua. In October '95 my friend Zhang and I stayed in Changsha for a few days then we took the overnight train to Huai Hua, being met by Tang.

We were booked into a hotel which overlooked the entrance to the railway station, and from the second floor window we were able to watch the greetings and farewells of the China Town passengers as they arrived or departed from a very busy station. many were loaded with much luggage of one type or another, which would be piled on the luggage racks, under the seats, and often in the corridors. I have learned from experience that it is wiser to travel light !
Visit To Tang's Family In China Town Of Pai Lou
Having settled everything in the hotel, Tang and I went out in the misty morning to a pavement table of a restaurant and enjoyed quite a number of freshly made steamed dumplings for our breakfast. We then returned to await the arrival of our taxi which would take us to the China town of Pai Lou for my second visit to Tang’s family home. The taxi driver was an attractive young woman, very confident, and once we were on our way, it was quite apparent that she had much experience of driving on roads. At each China town we came to she dealt expertly with cyclists, pedestrians and even pigs and water buffalo who appeared to have a Highway Code of their own making.
