Little Contact With Ordinary Chinese People In Beijing Photos
**
**
The Beijing photos of the Chinese city were taken on a first visit, when excited feelings were tinged with just a hint of trepidation. At the time, it seemed very risky to take the Beijing photos in the Capital of a country whose political beliefs were different to that of our own countries.
Beijing city was the power-center of a country whose Rule Of Law was covertly enforced. Beijing city had only in recent years begun to open up to the outside world, and was still recovering from a series of disasters, some natural and some self inflicted. It was strange for me to see armed policemen and soldiers on the Beijing streets. There have since been many big changes. Beijing photos are taken in their thousands, not only by the foreign visitors, but by the Chinese people themselves.
No Beijing Photos Taken Of Policemen In Cars !
There was an uncomfortable feeling in Beijing whenever approached by an official looking person in plain clothes. Such feelings might well have been unwarranted. We had very little contact with the ordinary people of Beijing; we traveled by coach from one place of interest to another. The Chinese policemen sitting in their cars or riding their motorbikes, seemed to observe us with a trace of suspicion. At the time, most of the cars on the Beijing roads were official limousines with tinted windows, sometimes with a police escort. Tiananmen Square was almost deserted as we passed through in the late afternoon, but Beijing looked quite magical in the soft sunlight. This could well have been an ideal time for the taking of Beijing photos.
