China Mystery Tour Two - - At A Park Of Ethnic Villages Near Kunming
Minority Groups are part of the history of China and about four miles out of Kunming, there is an extensive Park of Ethnic Chinese Villages on the side of the Dianchi Lake, of interest not only to the foreign tourists, but to the Chinese people themselves. In the Park the colorful ethnic Chinese customs and folklore can be experienced; there is dancing and singing to enjoy, and marvel at the different styles of dwellings, some on stilts and some of elaborate design, adopted by the ethnic Chinese families.

Water trickles from an elevated pipe into the pond and here Grandma ensures that the appropriate rituals are observed.
Near the entrance to the ethnic Chinese park, was a group of life size models of white elephants, and models of the twelve animals of the Chinese Almanac, a popular backdrop for memento photographs, an important part of such a visit. It was also possible to get dressed up in the colorful ethnic Chinese costumes, for a small fee, and pose for other photographs.

To one stilted building constructed all in wood we were attracted by the sound of music and singing. By the time we got there, that particular performance had come to an end. At the next performance, the group of young ethnic Chinese dancers encouraged members of the audience in the small hall to join them, and Zhong in his peaked cap accepted the invitation.
