Ancient Chinese Customs And Modern China
| Ancient Chinese customs still play their part in modern China, although recent changes have had an affect on the Chinese people and their family lifestyles. Predictions of the Chinese Almanac still have some influence, just as they did in ancient China. There is always a particularly lucky day to choose for getting married, opening a new business, making a special purchase or for some other event in their lives. This is more noticeable in the remoter country villages,

yet to catch up with the modernization and prosperity of the cities and coastal regions. Whatever their economic circumstances, their ancient Chinese customs have inbred the concepts of generosity and hospitality towards their visitors, so you are always assured of a warm welcome. I have learned much during my travels in China during the past twelve years and value the friendship given to me by the people.

Haven Of Comfort In Ancient Chinese Customs
| Much has changed since the subservient days of the Emperors and Mandarins. The Chinese people today are better educated and more knowledgeable than their ancestors. Even though they respect the ancient Chinese customs of their ancestors, they are less likely to be affected by superstition and hearsay. The Chinese people have more contact with the "Outside World" through the increased numbers of visitors to their country, and for many of them, by their connection to the Internet.

There are the big business transactions going on in the major cities, but even in the remoter regions the people trade with each other, hopefully at a profit, in an endeavor to improve their lives and to obtain the luxuries or even the much needed basic necessities, which many of us take for granted. Perhaps in these remoter regions, the ancient Chinese customs provide a haven of comfort, in their times of need.

Emperors Of China
The Emperor of China (Chinese pinyin: Huangdė) refers to any sovereign of Imperial China reigning since the founding of the Qin Dynasty in 221 BCE until the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1912. When referred to as the Son of Heaven, a title created no later than Shang Dynasty, the Emperor was recognized as the ruler of "All under heaven" (i.e., the world). In practice not every Emperor was the holder of the highest power of his land, though this was largely the case.
