Large Goldfish Fountain Centerpiece With Dancing Elves And Pixies

A view of the Goldfish Fountain from the first floor balcony.

View From First Floor Balcony At Food Street,
Of Goldfish Fountain On Ground Floor.

The ornamental pond on the ground floor of the Chinese Food Street in Tianjin, attracted the attention of children, because of the Pixies and Elves with their hands outstretched, trying to catch the water cascading from the mouth of a very large goldfish fountain in the center of the pond. Around the pond were potted plants of ferns and flowers, including roses, perhaps a safety barrier to prevent young children from trying to get into the pond to play with the elves!

From the balcony of the first floor there was a much better view of the main attraction on the ground floor, that is the pond, complete with the large Goldfish Fountain. From the mouth of the Goldfish gurgled water that cascaded down into the pond, sounding like the trickle of water in a mountain stream. It was fascinating to watch and there was a hope that the Dancing Elves and Pixies would suddenly prove to be alive !

Goldfish
The goldfish, Carassius auratus, was one of the earliest fishes to be domesticated, and is still one of the most commonly kept aquarium fish and water garden fish. A relatively small member of the carp family, the goldfish is a domesticated version of a dark-gray/brown carp native to East Asia. It was first domesticated in China and introduced to Europe in the late 17th century. Goldfish can grow to a maximum length of 23 inches (59 cm) and a maximum weight of 9.9 pounds (4.5 kg), although this is rare; few goldfish reach even half this size. The oldest recorded goldfish lived to 49 years, but most household goldfish generally live only six to eight years, due to being kept in bowls. The word for a group of goldfish is a "troubling".
