Planted Trees In China City Park and Fountains in Lake.

The trees transplated into the park at Nanning, were mature trees, some of which were imported from abroad. Planting the trees in their alloted positions in the park, was not the work of men with hand trowels and forks, but of excavators and cranes, successfully accomplished as was evident from the way that the trees were growing. Some of the trees had been subjected to heavy pruning, and where thick branches had been removed, many clumps of twigs had sprouted which would eventually become new branches to be selected, pruned and trimmed to achieve the desired tree form.

When the cost of imported trees and the cost of the site preparation and planting of the trees is considered, the people responsible for the planting of the trees in the City Park, must have been very experienced in such tree care, and have had a great deal of courage! A small tree planted in a domestic garden is easily replaced, should the planted tree fail to flourish. The local garden center is more than likely to have many trees in pots or other containers, to replace any that may have died. A mature tree, such as those planted in the City Park in Nanning, could not be replaced so easily, and as the original tree planted in its prominent position started to deteriorate, it would become unattractive and be a blemish on the surrounding area.
