Anchored Fishing Boats In Three Sisters Bay Of Sandy Beach Where Chinese Dolphins Swim![]()
Perfect holiday resort for the fisherman at Three Sisters Bay Nr Qinzhou, with a sandy beach to play on, a long pier to walk on to watch Chinese Dolphins, then enjoy a seafood meal at a beach table of an open air restaurant under a large canopy. The fishing boats anchored in the shalow waters of the bay, was a clear indication of the main occupation in the bay. Fishing boats were made, and repaired, and on the beach itself were seen Chinese women making fishing nets, using very fine thread. Even the legend that is associated with the Bay is connected with fishermen and their fishing boats. Three fairies married three fishermen, then refused to return to the heavens. As punishment, their heavenly masters created fierce storms while their fishmen husbands were on the seas, and their lives were brought to an end. The Three Sisters waited on the pier head for years and years, for their husbands to return and eventually through the act of a kinder God, the sisters were turned to stone.
*** Artisan fishing boats are usually small traditional fishing boats, appropriately designed for use on their local inland waters or coasts. Many localities around the world have developed their own traditional types of fishing boats, adapted to the specific fisheries and sea conditions in their area. Artisan boats are often open (undecked). Many have sails, but they do not usually use much, or any mechanised or electronic gear. Large numbers of artisan fishing boats are still in use, particularly in developing countries with long productive marine coastlines. For example, Indonesia has reported about 700,000 fishing boats, 25 percent of which are dugout canoes, and half of which are without motors. The Philippines have reported a similar number of small fishing boats. Many of the boats in this area are double-outrigger craft, consisting of a narrow main hull with two attached outriggers, commonly known as jukung in Indonesia and banca in the Philippines.
