Car and Excavator, Parked At Roadside Of Olympic Site, Having Uncovered Ditch And Undeveloped Land.

Although most of the time had been concentrated on getting the two main buildings, ie., National Swimming Center, and the Olympic Stadium, completed well before the Beijing Olympics were due to start in August 2008, there was still a lot of work in progress evident during our visit to the Olympic site in November 2007. There was one area of ground near the Olympic Stadium that had been leveled, and parts of which were covered with green colored sheets. There was a stretch of road at the side of this ground, seperated by an uncovered ditch. The purpose of the ditch is unknown, but could have been prepared ready to receive cables for power or communication purposes, or just to ensure that the site of the Beijing Olympics was well drained in the event of heavy rainstorms while the Games were in progress!
